JAMMU, Oct 3: Army tonight foiled two major infiltration bids at Sona Wali Gali and Choi Gali in Mankote sector of Poonch district under the cover of heavy firing by the Pakistani troops.
Official sources said Pakistan Army opened firing on forward Indian positions in violation of ceasefire at 9 pm today to give cover to two groups of militants infiltrating towards Mankote. Troops from this side immediately retaliated, leading to heavy exchange of gunfire that lasted more than an hour.
Army foiled infiltration attempts at both the places, sources said, adding that there were no reports of any casualties or damage on the Indian side.
The militants, who were attempting infiltration under the cover of Pakistani firing, were reported to have retreated to Pakistan after effective retaliatory firing from the Indian side.
