Two missing dead bodies recovered from Chenab

RAMBAN, June 9: Two missing dead bodies were recovered from river Chenab at Talwara in District Reasi.
Sharing the details, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban PD Nitya said that these two deceased persons were missing since May 19, 2021 when an ill fated Innova vehicle bearing registration number HR55J-1678 on its way from Srinagar to Bijnor plunged into the riven Chenab near Duggi Pulli Chanderkote after the driver lost control over the vehicle.
“Out of nine passengers on board, three were rescued by civil and police QRTs, one person succumbed on the way and other six were missing”, SSP said, adding that a case under FIR Number 59/2021 under Sections 279, 337 and 304 IPC was registered at Police Station Chanderkote and a search to find out the missing persons was initiated.
“Out of these six missing persons, two dead bodies were recovered at Talwara area of District Reasi and they have been identified as Mohammad Afzan (26), son of Amanat Hussain and Mohammad Azim (24), son of Mohammad Anis, both residents of Kiratpur Bijnor. These two dead bodies after the necessary codal formalities were handed over to the legal heirs for the last rites”, SSP PD Nitya said, adding that the search to find out the other four missing persons is still going on.
