Two murder mysteries solved, accused held

Srinagar, Dec 29: Police today solved two murder mysteries one from Bandipora, where a woman was murdered and another one from central Kashmir’s Budgam where a toddler was found dead after he went missing.
From Bandipora, police today said to have solved a mysterious murder case of a lady within a week by arresting the accused person involved in the commission of the crime.
A police spokesperson said that on December 21, 2020, the Police Post Ajas received a written complaint from one person namely Abdul Rehman Matahanji son of Abdul Gaffar Matahanji resident of Laharwalpora Bandipora, “wherein he stated that his daughter namely Afrooza Bano who was married to Shabir Ahmad Pahloo son of Nazir Ahmad Pahloo resident of S.K Payeen Bandipora has been killed by her husband,” police said.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.177/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Sumbal and investigation was taken up.
Subsequently, police said, a special team recovered the dead body of the deceased lady and the same was handed over to the family after completing all medico-legal formalities.
Police said that during the investigation, officers came to know that the husband of the deceased lady identified as Shabir Ahmad Pahloo was involved in the commission of the crime. “After strenuous efforts and swift action of the police, the accused person was arrested,” it said.
During questioning, as per police, the accused admitted that during the intervening night of 20/21 December “the duo were engaged in a brawl over Mehar and Golden ornaments and he strangulated his wife to death.”
The accused has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody, while as further investigation in the case is on.
From Budgam, Police said to have solved a murder mystery case of a 3-year old toddler in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
A police spokesperson said that on December 1, 2020, a written complaint was received by Police station Beerwah from complainant Hilal Ahmad Najar resident of Chewdara to the effect that his minor son namely Burhan age about 03 years is missing from home.
On this complaint, police said, a case was registered in Police Station Beerwah and investigation taken-up. Subsequently, during searches, the dead body of the said missing boy was recovered from a canal outside village Chewdara on 02-12-2020.
Sustained efforts by police led to the accused who is the cousin of the victim (name withheld) and on her disclosure, 2 other suspects were called for questioning who were thoroughly interrogated.
“All the 03 accused persons have been arrested in the instant case and are currently under custody,” police said.
The case is under investigation and will be, police said, charge-sheeted within shortest possible time.
