Srinagar, Feb 5: Two rare musk deer were rescued after the locals captured and handed over them to Wild Life Department in last two days.
Wild Life Warden Central, Altaf Ahmad, said that yesterday a musk deer was rescued in injured condition from Nisaht area of Srinagar. He said that deer was immediately taken to Dacchigam National Park and treated by the doctors there.
He said in a rare coincidence another musk deer was roaming in the fields of Anderwan locality this afternoon in Mansbal area of Ganderbal district after which the animal was captured alive by the locals.
He said the locals handed over the rare animal to wildlife officials and it was taken to Dachigam wildlife sanctuary.
The Warden said that both the deer are male and have been shifted to Pahalgam where there is good facility. He said two females are already there in the Centre and with the rescue of two males there is chance of breeding of musk deer in Pahalgam.
