Two nabbed with leopard skin

RAMBAN, Dec 16: Police nabbed two persons with the skin of leopard.
As per police sources, the sleuths of District Special Branch developed information regarding the smuggling of wild animals skin from Gool area to European countries where lion or leopard skin rugs have huge demand.
Accordingly, a special police team from police station Ramban laid a trap and stopped a vehicle.
During checking, police apprehended 2 smugglers who were in possession of an animal skin probably of a leopard (8 feet in length), worth Rs 6 lakhs in the international market.
Both the smugglers were arrested, who have been identified as Shahnawaz, son of Abdul Latief Shan and Qadir Ahmed, son of Gulam Abbas Gani, both residents of Gool. They had come to Ramban to sell the leopard skin, but were arrested before they could strike the deal.
A case under FIR Number 157/16 under Section 8/49-A/51 under Wild Life Protection Act in consultation with authorities of Wild Life Sanctuary has been lodged at police station Ramban and investigation started.
Police team from Ramban police station led by SI Ankuj Kumar made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Mohammad Rafiq, Additional SP Ramban Mushtaq Ahmed Choudhary and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
