Two nabbed with 202 kg poppy straw

UDHAMPUR, Dec 9: Police today nabbed two inter-state narcotic smugglers with a huge contraband of poppy straw from Jakheni.
Based on reliable information, a police party headed by Inspector Sanjeev Chib (SHO police station Udhampur) assisted by Zahid Saif Wani (Deputy SP Headquarters) this afternoon laid a naka at Jakheni for checking of vehicles, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, SSP Udhampur here said.
He said that during naka checking, the police party stopped one truck (PB02BV-8899) which was subjected to thorough search. “During search, 202 kg poppy straw was recovered and the narcotic smugglers identified as Jatinder Masih son of Sham Masih, resident of Kodwahan, district Gurdasspur (Punjab) and Jatinder Singh son Makhan Singh of Buran Kotli, Batala (Gurdasspur, Punjab) were arrested while the vehicle was also seized,’ said the SSP.
He added that a case under NDPS Act has been registered at police station udhampur and investigation started.
