SAMBA, Oct 25: Police has apprehended two individuals and seized approximately 8.60 grams of a heroin-like substance in the jurisdiction of Police Station Samba.
The arrests occurred during a routine vehicle check near Tata Showroom Barian Supwal, led by the Incharge of Police Post Supwal and overseen by the SHO of Police Station Samba. The police intercepted a motorcycle, bearing registration number JK02AJ-7220, traveling from the Tata Showroom towards the National Highway. Upon inspection, authorities discovered the illegal substance.
The accused have been identified as Ashwani Kumar, son of Surinder Kumar, and Gulshan Verma, son of Ram Dass, both residents of Vijaypur. Following their arrest, police seized the contraband and filed FIR Number 279/2024 under sections 8, 21, 22, and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Police Station Samba. The investigation is ongoing.
