JAMMU, July 7: Gharota police today seized 6 tonnes of polythene bags and arrested two persons in this connection.
According to police sources, acting on the information from reliable sources regarding loading of illegal polythene bags in two vehicles, a team of Gharota police led by SHO Inspector Khyatimaan Khajuria laid a special naka near new bridge Thathi.
During checking of vehicle, 6 tonnes of polythene bags were recovered from two vehicles bearing registration numbers JK02BP-9958 and JK03K-5966. In this connection, a case FIR Number 61/2021 U/S 188/IPC, 6/7/10 J&K Non – Biodegradable Material Management Handling and Disposable Act, 2007 was registered at police station Gharota.
Two persons were arrested in this connection. They were identified as Mohd Ashraf Bhat son of Mohd Jamal Bhat of Magam (Anantnag) and Imtiyaz Ahmed Bhat son of Dull Mohd Khan of Deval Gam (Anantnag).
The overall arrests and recoveries were made under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandial.
