Two narco smugglers apprehended with 60 kgs poppy straw

JAMMU, Apr 8: Satwari police arrested two narcotics smugglers along with 60 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Satwari Police Station led by SHO Inspector Gurmeet Singh laid a naka at Babliana and intercepted two trucks bearing registration numbers JK02AQ-8734 and JK02AF-3765.
During checking, police team recovered 60 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicles and arrested the drivers of both the trucks.
The arrested persons were identified as Gurparsad Singh alias Tarzan, son of Harcharan Singh, a resident of Karan Bagh, Gadigarh and Sanamdeep Singh alias Sajjan, son of Charan Singh of Lower Gadigarh District.
It is pertinent to mention here that Gurparsad Singh alias Tarzan was also arrested earlier in number of drug peddling cases.
Cases under FIR Number 75/2020 and 76/2020 under section 8/15 NDPS Act were registered at Police Station Satwari and investigation initiated.
The arrest was made in presence of SDPO South Ram Singh and Executive Magistrate Ist Class.
