AMRITSAR: Two Pakistanis, who had smuggled in four kgs of heroin worth Rs 20 crore in the international market, were shot dead in a brief encounter with BSF at the Gulgarh BOP along the Indo-Pak border.
In the wee hours today, three Pakistani smugglers crossed over to the Indian Territory through BOP Gulgarh. On being seen by the BSF patrolling party, they were asked to stop and surrender but smugglers kept on moving towards the Indian Territory and fired eight shots on the Indian side, BSF DIG R S Jaswal said.
The BSF in retaliation also open fired on them, killing two Pakistanis. However the third managed to escape back to Pakistan, the DIG said.
Later, a search operation was launched, where BSF found two bodies of unidentified Pakistani nationals.
Four kg of heroin, one Chinese automatic pistol, eighty used cartridges which were fired on BSF by the killed smugglers, 15 live cartridges and a Pakistani mobile sim card have been recovered from them, the DIG added. (AGENCIES)
