Two peddlers held with charas

LEH, June 13: District Police Leh has arrested two drug peddlers along with 960 grams of charas.
“A team of Police Post Kharu (Leh) while conducting a routine naka checking on Monday at PCP Upshi apprehended two suspicious persons traveling in an Alto car with a temporary registration number,” a Police spokesman said.
He said upon failure of the persons travelling in the car to produce the necessary vehicle documents and exhibiting suspicious behaviour, the Police team promptly searched the car and recovered a substantial quantity of charas like substance weighing approximately 960 grams from the dashboard of the car.
“Both the suspects identified as Hari Singh son of Jaisu Ram and Khurana Thakur son of Mohar Singh (both residents of Kullu, Himachal Pradesh) were registered and a case FIR Number 87/2023 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act registered against them at Police Station Leh,” the spokesman said, adding further investigation of the case was going on.
He said that efforts are being made to nab the peddlers who are involved in cartels of drugs. Preliminary investigation has revealed that these individuals sell drugs to local youths and tourists at an exorbitant price, the spokesman added.
