SAMBA, Oct 21: In a major crackdown on drug smuggling, Vijaypur Police arrested two notorious drug smugglers during a special vehicle checking operation near Railway Fatak, Vijaypur.
The accused, identified as Yogeshwar Singh alias Jebu, son of Yash Paul Singh, and Nitish Singh, son of Ranbir Singh, both residents of Gurha Slathia (Vijaypur), were intercepted while riding a motorcycle bearing registration number JK21-2219.
During the search, the police recovered approximately 4 grams of heroin from their possession. Both individuals were immediately taken into custody, and the contraband was seized. A case has been registered under FIR Number 138/2024 at Police Station Vijaypur under sections 8/21/22/29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Authorities revealed that the accused are habitual offenders and have been involved in several drug-related cases previously registered at the same police station. The police have launched a thorough investigation into the case to uncover any further links to the drug trade in the region.
