Two porters killed in Keran

Srinagar, May 27: Two porters of Army were killed in Keran sector of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district when militants opened fire upon them from across the Line of Control (LoC) this afternoon.
Sources said that a group of porters had gone ahead of forward posts in Janger Naar area in Keran sector this afternoon. Militants, who were waiting along the LoC saw the movement near forward posts and opened fire on them.
Two of the porters managed to flee safely while two others were hit by bullets and died on the spot. They have been identified as Mohammad Hanif and Javed Ahmad of Janger Naar village. The Army also fired back but the militants managed to escape.
Army has launched searches in the area. However, no militant presence was observed inside Indian territory. The operation is going on.
