Two sentenced to community service for creating public nuisance

JAMMU, Feb 22: Two persons found guilty of creating public nuisance under the influence of alcohol were sentenced to community service by a court here today.
A police official said that Lekh Raj and Ashok Singh were arrested by a team of Police Post Sidhra on February 19 after the duo created nuisance and public disturbance under the influence of alcohol in Sidhra area.
After their arrest and medical examination, they were brought before the court, he said.
In a departure from the traditional punishment, the police official said that the Court of Special Excise Mobile Magistrate Jammu directed both the accused to perform one hour of community service daily at the nearest hospital for 10 days under section 355 of the BNS, the police official said.
