Two shopkeepers among three arrested with stolen sugar bags

RAMBAN, Apr 9: Police arrested three persons including two shopkeepers along with stolen sugar bags.
As per police sources, on April 5, a truck bearing registration number PB06F-2657 was found abandoned on the road side near Shawanbas area of Banihal. The truck carrying 132 bags of sugar was seized under Section 550 RPC.
During investigation, owner of truck namely Jaspinder Singh, son of Pal Singh of Adarsh Colony, Sarna, Pathankot, Punjab was called for questioning.
The owner of the truck submitted a written complaint with police station Banihal stating that on March 30, driver of the said truck identified as Mohammad Ashraf, son of Mohammad Yousaf of Sangote, tehsil Chenani, district Udhampur loaded 300 bags of sugar to be delivered at Srinagar.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 39/16 under Section 407, 411 and 301 RPC was registered at Banihal police station and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, driver was called for questioning, who confessed to commit the crime.
On his disclosure, police recovered 151 bags of sugar and 59 empty bags from two shops and accordingly the shopkeepers were arrested. They have been identified as Ajaz Ahmed, son of Saif Din Itoo of Kharpora, tehsil Banihal and Arshit Ahmed, son of Bashir Ahmed Gitoo of Main Bazaar, Banihal.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team led by SHO Banihal police station Inspector Nazir Ahmed Dar made the arrest under the supervision SDPO Banihal Mohammad Rafiq and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
