JAMMU, July 28: Two sisters, who went missing on Wednesday, were found lifeless in a canal here at Digiana Pully area today.
A police spokesperson said Arushi (3) and Shivani (5), daughters of Ram Dass of Chhattisgarh, at present Digiana, Jammu, went missing from their current residence at around 9 am on Wednesday.
After parents of the deceased girls lodged a written complaint at Police Post Digiana, a case FIR number 186/2023 under section 363 IPC was registered and accordingly investigations started, he said.
The police teams investigating the case initially sought help of CCTV footage of the area to trace the missing girls but their efforts proved futile until yesterday.
Today, the police asked SDRF and NDRF teams for help, who traced the bodies of the young girls from the canal at Digiana Pully area at around 8 am.
The bodies of the girls have been shifted to the mortuary of the Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu for conducting the post-mortems while further investigation is underway.
