KISHTWAR, Feb 21: In a drive against drugs smuggling, police arrested two narcotic smugglers along with around 2 kilograms of charas from Kuleed area, falling under the jurisdiction of Kishtwar police station.
SSP Kishtwar Yougal Manhas said that on specific information, police team from Kishtwar police station intercepted two pedestrians, who were moving under suspicious circumstances at Kuleed.
During checking, police recovered 1.780 kilograms of charas and arrested both the accused, the SSP said, adding that the accused have been identified as Daleep Kumar, son of Vaid Raj of Kundal, Padder and Aman Tikoo, son of Murli Lal of Tata Pani, Padder.
SSP stated that both the persons were on their way to Jammu to sell the narcotics among the young ones, but their ill-designs were thwarted by the active cops, he added.
A case under FIR number 22/15 under Section 8/20 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police station Kishtwar and investigation has been started to find out the smuggling module.
Police team led by PSI Deepak Bharti and SHO Inspector Sumeer Jeelani made the arrest under the supervision of Nazir Ahmed Ganie, DySP Headquarters, Kishtwar, Abdul Qayoom, Additional SP Kishtwar and Yougal Manhas, SSP Kishtwar.
