Two succumb to COVID, 136 test +ve in J&K; 21 in Ladakh

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, Dec 17: Two persons died of COVID-19 and 136 tested positive in Jammu and Kashmir today while 21 new cases were reported from the Union Territory of Ladakh.
One COVID casualty and 40 cases were registered in Jammu while one fatality and 96 cases were recorded in Kashmir division.
An 80-year-old-man, who was fully vaccinated but co-morbid, died of COVID-19 ion the Government Medical College (GMC) Doda today. He hailed from village Shamthi Kastigarh in Assar area of Doda district.
This has taken Corona toll in Jammu region to 2193 and Doda district to 136.
Death toll in other districts include Rajouri 239, Kathua 152, Udhampur 138, Samba 120, Poonch 100, Ramban 67, Kishtwar 44 and Reasi 43.
Among 40 positives in Jammu, 18 were reported from Jammu district, six each in Udhampur and Doda, five Kathua, three Rajouri and one each in Samba and Poonch districts. Reasi, Ramban and Kishtwar districts didn’t report any cases today.
Thirty two persons have recovered from the virus.
Jammu region now has 1,25,776 Corona cases. Among them, 1,23,218 have recovered from the virus while there were 2193 casualties and 365 active positive cases.
Out of 21 COVID cases in the UT of Ladakh, 18 were reported from Leh and three in Kargil district.
Ladakh now has 167 active positive cases including 155 in Leh district and 12 in Kargil.
Corona count in Ladakh stood at 21886. Out of them, 21502 have recovered while there were 216 fatalities—158 in Leh and 58 in Kargil.
Meanwhile, DC Jammu Anshul Garg today declared Lane 2, Amar Colony near Gole Gujral as micro Containment Zone. He de-notified Saraswati Lane Talab Tillo as micro-Containment Zone.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 96 fresh positive cases of COVID-19.
One person who was admitted to a Srinagar hospital succumbed here to the infection taking the J&K death toll to 4,510.
Those who tested positive include 54 from Srinagar, 10 from Baramulla, 7 from Budgam, 2 from Pulwama, 4 from Kupwara, 4 from Anantnag, 4 from Bandipora and 11 from Ganderbal.
The number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 213,764 including 210,364 recoveries and 2,317 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1,448 including 1,083 from Kashmir division.
With 125 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 333,582 which is 98.25 percent of the total cases.
