KISHTWAR, Jan 16: Police here today has solved two theft cases involving hardware and Kiryana items and arrested six burglars in this regard recovering the stolen property worth Rs 5 lakh.
On January 7, 2025, Police Station Kishtwar received a written complaint from one Mohd Farooq, proprietor of M/s Shalimar Glass House, regarding theft of geysers and other items from his store.
An FIR with number 09/2025 under Sections 305/331(4) BNS was registered in this regard and investigation started.
Subsequently, on January 11, 2025, another complaint was lodged by Raman Gupta, son of Bodh Raj Gupta, resident of Shakti Nagar, Kishtwar regarding theft of Kiryana items from his shop.
Accordingly, an FIR with number 14/2025 under Sections 331(4)/305 BNS was registered in this regard and investigation initiated.
SSP Kishtwar, Javaid Iqbal Mir constituted a special investigation team to solve these cases and the team was led by SHO Police Station Kishtwar, Inspector Firdous Ahmed and supervised by Dy. SP Headquarters Kishtwar, Dr. Ishan Gupta.
The team apprehended the main accused, Rahul Singh, son of Mangal Singh, resident of Kuleed Chowk, Kishtwar.
Following his disclosure, five other persons were arrested and thoroughly interrogated.
Others arrested persons were Rahul Singh, son of Mangal Singh, resident of TRC, Kishtwar; Abdul Hamid, son of Ghulam Nabi, resident of Melan, Kishtwar; Mohd Rafi, son of Ghulam Kadir, resident of Dhar, at present Drabshalla, Kishtwar; Abhishek Mahajan, son of Kewal Kishore, resident of Udhampur City, at present Thathri City, Doda; Irshad Ahmed, son of Late Mohd Hussain, resident of Thathri Market, Doda and Rajesh Kumar Gupta, son of Bodh Raj Gupta, resident of Kandani, Kishtwar.
During sustained interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in the thefts and disclosed the locations where the stolen property was concealed. Acting on this information, cops recovered the stolen items worth Rs. 5 lakh.
