Two theft cases worked out

JAMMU, Dec 16: Police in Jammu’s Bakshi Nagar and Sarwal areas claimed to have worked out two different theft cases.
A police spokesperson said that a written complaint was lodged at Police Station Bakshi Nagar regarding theft of a laptop from a shop.
On this, he said, a case FIR number 176/2023 under section 380 IPC was registered at Police Station Bakshi Nagar and investigation started.
Post registration of FIR, the police spokesperson said that special police teams led by SHO Bakshi Nagar rounded up a suspect, Honey Chopra of Rehari Colony. During questioning, the suspect confessed to his involvement in the crime and on his disclosure, the stolen laptop was recovered.
Similarly, another complaint was lodged at Police Post Sarwal by one Ashwani Kumar of Rehari Jammu, regarding theft of items worth Rs 12 lakh from a shop.
On this, a case FIR number 165/2023 under section 457/380 of the IPC was registered at Police Station Bakshi Nagar and investigation started.
Followed by this, the special teams of Police Post Sarwal led by incharge Police Post Sarwal rounded up 8 suspects identified as Veena, Bagho, Keshu, Toshi, Reena, Cheeno Devi, Veenu, all residents of Rajiv Nagar, Narwal, and Mohammad Latif of Reka Narwal.
During sustained questioning, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime and on their disclosure, the stolen items worth Rs 12 lakh were recovered from their possession. A vehicle used in the commission of the offence was also seized.
Further investigation in the two cases is underway.
