KATHUA, Jan 28: Two noted businessmen from Amritsar and Surat were killed in a car accident on Jammu-Pathankote National Highway at Dayala Chak in tehsil Hiranagar this morning.
The mishap took place at around 8.15 am when both the traders- Sanjeev Khanna, son of Krishan Lal Khanna of Amritsar and his relative, Harish Arora, son of Ashok Arora, resident of Surat (Gujarat) were on way to Katra Mata Vaishnodevi in a car from Amritsar. They left Amritsar during early hours. As they reached at Dayala Chak, their car hit against the divider in the middle of the highway and the speeding vehicle after jumping over the divider collided with the truck coming from Jammu on the other side.
Both the traders were rushed to Hiranagar hospital by police, where doctors declared them as brought dead. The police said that over speeding was the apparent reason behind the accident. It said the driver must be napping while driving as the road is quite wider there and moreover, there was no much traffic on the highway at that time.
The police informed family members at Amritsar. They reached there shortly. The bodies were handed over to them after postmortem this afternoon.
