Two women among 3 die of COVID in Jammu, 70 test +ve

70 new cases in Kashmir, 5 in Ladakh

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, Aug 3: Three persons including two women died of COVID-19 while 70 tested positive for the virus in Jammu region today. An equal number of fresh cases were reported in Kashmir while the Union Territory of Ladakh recorded five new cases.
A 50-year-old woman hailing from Marmat in Doda district died of COVID-19 in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu today. She had no co-morbidities. A 65-year-old man from Bharat Bagla Ghat, also in Doda district, succumbed to the virus and hypertension in the GMC Doda.
Another 60-year-old woman from Surha Sankari in Rajouri, who had no ailments, passed away in the GMC Rajouri due to Coronavirus.
Among 70 new cases reported in the region, 19 came from Rajouri district, 15 Doda, 12 Reasi (all travelers), 11 Jammu, five Ramban, three Udhampur, two each in Kishtwar and Poonch and one in Kathua district. Samba didn’t report any fresh cases.
As against 70 new cases, 38 persons today recovered from the virus.
Jammu region now has 1,21,947 Corona cases. Among them, 520 are active positives while 1,19,280 have recovered from the virus and there have been 2147 fatalities.
Among the casualties, highest 1139 have been recorded in Jammu district followed by 226 in Rajouri, 151 Kathua, 136 Udhampur, 127 Doda, 119 Samba, 96 Poonch, 66 Ramban, 44 Kishtwar and 43 in Reasi district.
The Union Territory of Ladakh today registered five new COVID positive cases including four in Leh and one in Kargil district.
Corona count in Ladakh now stood at 20345. However, there are only 57 active positive cases while 20081 have been treated and there were 207 casualties—149 in Leh and 58 in Kargil.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 70 fresh cases of COVID-19.
Those who tested positive include 21 from Srinagar, 7 from Baramulla, 5 from Budgam, 4 from Pulwama, 15 from Kupwara, 2 from Anantnag, 4 from Bandipora, 9 from Ganderbal, 2 from Kulgam and 1 from Shopian.
As per officials figures, 71,460 positive cases including 833 deaths and 70,303 recoveries are from Srinagar, 23,668 including 282 deaths and 23,239 recoveries are from Baramulla, 22,917 including 22,636 recoveries and 205 deaths are from Budgam, 15,196 including 14,954 recoveries and 194 deaths are from Pulwama, 14,086 including 165 deaths and 13,889 recoveries are from Kupwara, 16,330 including 16,088 recoveries and 205 deaths are from Anantnag, 9,474 cases including 9,361 and 100 deaths are from Bandipora, 9,933 including 9,797 recoveries and 78 deaths are from Ganderbal, 11,269 including 11,122 recoveries and 117 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,585 including 5,519 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Shopian.
The number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 199,918 including 196,908 recoveries and 2,237 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1,293 including 773 from Kashmir division.
With 98 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 316,188 which is 98.24 percent of the total cases.
