Two women die, 43 test +ve in Jammu

79 fresh COVID cases in Kashmir, 7 in Ladakh

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/LEH, Aug 8: Two women died of COVID-19 and 43 persons tested positive in Jammu region while one casualty and 79 fresh cases were today reported in Kashmir division. The Union Territory of Ladakh recorded seven new cases.
A 58-year-old woman hailing from Basantgarh town in Udhampur district died of COVID-19 and co-morbidities in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu while 66-year-old female from Dadasanbala Darhal in Rajouri district succumbed to the virus in the GMC Rajouri.
The two fatalities have taken Corona toll in Jammu region to 2150 including 1139 in Jammu district followed by 228 in Rajouri, 151 Kathua, 137 Udhampur, 127 Doda, 119 Samba, 96 Poonch, 66 Ramban, 44 Kishtwar and 43 in Reasi district.
Among 43 new COVID positive cases reported in Jammu region, 11 were registered in Doda, 10 Kishtwar, nine Jammu, six Rajouri, three Udhampur and two each in Kathua and Poonch districts.
Samba, Ramban and Reasi districts didn’t report any new cases today.
As against 43 new cases, 47 persons today recovered from the virus.
Jammu region now has 1,22,186 Coronavirus cases. Of them, 578 are active positives while 1,19,458 have recovered from the virus and there have been 2150 casualties.
Out of seven new COVID positive cases reported in the Union Territory of Ladakh, six were recorded in Leh district and one in Kargil.
Corona count in Ladakh now stood at 20385 including 65 active positives, 20113 recoveries and 207 fatalities.
Among the casualties, 149 have been reported in Leh and 58 in Kargil district.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 79 fresh cases of COVID-19 while one person succumbed to the viral infection.
One person succumbed to the viral infection in Kashmir today taking the death toll in J&K to 4389.
Srinagar reported 29 cases, Baramulla 9, Budgam 15, Pulwama 6, Kupwara 3, Anantnag 1, Bandipora 4, Ganderbal 8 and Kulgam 4.
Srinagar has 71634 positive cases with 344 active, 70456 recovered, 834 deaths; Baramulla has 23704 positive cases with 109 active, 23313 recovered, 282 deaths; Budgam reported 22969 positive cases with 83 active cases, 22680 recovered, 206 deaths; Pulwama has 15232 positive cases with 51 active, 14987 recovered and 194 deaths; Kupwara has 14113 positive cases, 39 active, 13909 recoveries, 165 deaths;  Anantnag district has 16342 positive cases with 30 active, 16107 recovered, 205 deaths;  Bandipora has 9516 positive cases, with 51 active, 9365 recoveries and 100 deaths; Ganderbal has 9974 positive cases with 75 active, 9821 recoveries  and 78 deaths; Kulgam has 11294 positive cases with 34 active, 11143 recoveries and 117 deaths while as Shopian has 5586 positive cases with 06 active cases, 5522 recoveries and 58 deaths.
Moreover, 129 more COVID-19 patients have recovered, including 82 from Kashmir Valley.
So far, 316761 people have recovered, leaving the number of active cases at 1400 including 822 in Kashmir.
