JAMMU, Oct 10: Two women ended their lives by jumping into Chenab River in separate incidents in Akhnoor and Jourian areas here today.
A police official said one Surinder Kour wife of Harbans Singh of Sungal, Akhnoor, who was not well, jumped into the River in Akhnoor area around 10: 30 am today.
After some passers-by raised alarm, he said, a police team reached at the spot and fished out her body with the help of SDRF.
The body of the woman has been handed over to her legal heirs after conducting the medico-legal formalities and further investigations have been started, he said.
Meanwhile, an unidentified woman jumped into the Chenab River this evening in Jourian area.
Her body has also been fished out and further investigations have been started, said the police official.
