Two women killed in accident

SRINAGAR, Sept 22:  Two women were killed and another was injured in an accident involving an Army vehicle in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district today, police said.
An Army vehicle, on way to Chowkibal from Kupwara, hit and injured three women pedestrians near Panzgam village on the Kupwara-Chowkibal road, police said.
They said the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital where two of them – Naza Begum (35) and Sameena Bano (25), both residents Panzgam Kralpora – were declared brought dead.
Police has registered a case, they said, adding protests broke out in the area after the incident.
Meanwhile, Army termed the incident “unfortunate” and said it would extend full cooperation to the police for early completion of the inquiry.
“The GOC-in-C, Northern Command has expressed deep anguish on the unfortunate loss of innocent lives and conveys his deepest condolences to the bereaved families,” Defence spokesman Colonel S D Goswami said.
He said the J&K police are investigating the case and Army authorities were extending full cooperation to the police to enable expeditious and early completion of the inquiry into the accident.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case under FIR number 78/ 2015 under sections 279 and 304 and started investigations.
Meanwhile, in another accident an army vehicle collided with an Alto Car near Delina along Srinagar-Baramulla Highway resulting in injuries to a lady identified as Darakshah Khursheed. The injured lady was shifted to Sub-District Hospital Baramulla for treatment.
