JAMMU, May 5: The 74th birth anniversary of Late R. C. Gupta Founder Tawi Welfare Society (TWS) was celebrated here today.
On this occasion a function was organised, during which ration was distributed among 75 needy families, Preeti Bhoj and Shradhanjali (Homage) to Late R. C. Gupta were the main attractions.
Padmashri Dr. Jatinder Udhampuri, who was the Chief Guest, in his address highlighted the simplicity and commitment of Late R. C. Gupta at the cost of his comfort.
Yash Paul Mangotra, General Secretary, TWS welcomed all the guests and briefed about various kinds of welfare activities being undertaken by the society from time to time without any financial Grant-in-Aid from the Govt. or other Agencies, but with the full support and co-operations of its Worthy Members.
“TWS could be successful so far because, we have not deviated from our original policy of doing goods to others to the best possible without discrimination but gracefully,” he said.
R. Vijay Magotra, Executive Committee Member of District Red Cross Society shared various experiences of his association with late Gupta.
I D. Soni, President, Home for Aged and Infirms in his Presidential Address said Gupta was a Saint like always concerned about the welfare of others.
He was an Asset not only for TWS but the Society at large and I salute him for the big contributions he made not only during his life time but after his departure also he is being remembered for his number of good deeds.
Among others who were present during the function included Tehsildar Mandal, Dr. B.B. Sharma, Dy. Dir. Health, (Retd), Madan Lal, Former Chairman BDC, Prabha Jain, Chairman, New Era Environment School, Ragbir Singh Manhas and Dinesh Gupta.
