UDHAMPUR, Aug 2: Udhampur Development Council (UDC) today appealed the Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office, Dr Jitendra Singh to take to logical end the Devika river plan, a proposal of which was moved by the Minister.
Recently, Dr Jitendra Singh had moved a proposal for cleaning sacred Devika River following through Udhampur with Union Ministry of Environment under Government of India’s National River Conservation Plan.
Addressing a press conference here today, UDC president, Anil Paba and general secretary, Parvesh Parihar, said masses of Udhampur will always remain indebted to Dr Singh if Devika plan will be taken to logical end in future.
They further appealed Dr Jitendra Singh to accept all those demands made in memorandum submitted to him last month to mitigate the disregard and suffering of Devika River and it will not be service to masses of Udhampur but for all those having faith in mother Devika.
Rakesh Padha in his address described implementation of Devika plan as a boost to tourist follow and economy of Udhampur, adding if plan implemented fully it will be the second historical religious place after Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in J&K.
