JAMMU, Dec 23: The residents of Ward 61 are facing acute power crisis for over last fortnight putting the people into lot of trouble.
According to residents of the area the PDD authorities have failed to solve the problem despite the fact that entire area is fully metered and generates maximum revenue for the department. They said that problem emerged after against the wishes of the people of the area which was earlier linked to Urban Jammu were linked to rural Jammu for unknown reasons for power supply.
They said despite making protests against the decision, the authorities turned a deaf ear to the people’s pleas and went ahead with the arbitrary decision of delinking the entire Ward 61 from Urban area and connecting it with Rural Jammu.
Terming the Government claims hollow on Jammu being made a Smart City, Chaman Lal a resident of Anand Nagar said this all exists on papers as people are facing over 10 hour power cut in Municipal areas of Jammu and this is an eye opener for those who day in and day out boast off making Jammu a Smart City.
Expressing his dismay, Ramesh Hangloo resident of Udhaiwala Bohri and president Pir Panchal said there is no one ready to look into the problem. He questioned linking of Ward 61 which falls in Jammu Municipality with Rural area for power supply. The department has deliberately created this problem for the people of the area, he added.
He said power crisis have added to woes of students most whose exams are approaching. He said the consumers pay the power tariff and the Department is duty bound to supply round the clock power to them.
He urged the PDD authorities to look into the problem and re-connect the Ward 61 with Urban Jammu without any delay.
