‘Modi took personal interest in development of far off areas’

UDHAMPUR, Aug 6: Union Minister in PMO with independent charge of Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra today said that by the end of this year or early next year Kashmir will be linked to other parts of the country through rail.

Talking to reporters here, on the sidelines of laying of foundation for Udhampur Amrit Railways Station on the occasion of e-launch of 508 Amrit Railway Stations across the country by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dr Jitendra Singh said “Either by the end of this year or by the next year; Udhampur, Katra will be connected to the Kashmir valley through rail.
Giving all credit to the Prime Minister, for taking personal interest in development of hitherto neglected areas of Jammu and Kashmir including Udhampur, Dr Jitendra Singh said that it is worth thought that why such type of development could not take place prior to 2014 which has taken place in last nine years of Narendra Modi led Government.
The Union Minister said had been this type of project scheme launched prior to 2014 when BJP Government was not in power at Centre, the Udhampur could have never been part of it, as this region was totally neglected by the previous Governments during their over 65 year rule.
Dr Jitendra Singh said Udhampur will emerge an important Railway Station after the trains coming from Delhi, Jammu and other parts of country will pass from here to Kashmir and holy town of Katra. It will be the Amrit Bharat Railway Station where all latest facilities will be available to passengers, he added.
The Union Minister said with train going to Kashmir, the trade in the region will also get tremendous boost as Udhampur will emerge as an important destination for tourists and commuters. He said along with the tunnel at National Highway, the Railway tunnel has also been constructed in the same area and people from far of places will come to see it.
He said Udhampur and adjoining districts got one after another developmental projects in Modi regime. The River Rejuvenation Project of Devika which is called the elder sister of Ganga was also announced and launched by Narendra Modi while the successive Governments in last 65 years of their rule never paid any attention to it.
Dr Jitendra Singh said besides, Devika, PM Modi inaugurated the Shyama Prasad Mookherjee Tunnel at Chenani -the Asia’s longest tunnel in Udhampur district and world’s highest Railway bridge has been constructed in Reasi district. The people all over country as well as abroad will visit there to see the unique architecture and marvelous work of engineers, he added.
He said Narendra Modi fulfilled his promise of giving justice to the neglected and ignored areas of country which remained in constant backwardness over the decades. In the Modi regime, Udhampur is all set to progress with other developed areas of country as PM had promised to develop those areas which previous governments had ignored for vote bank and other considerations, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that North Eastern States and Jammu and Kashmir have been given preference by the Modi Government and these states became his top priority for development as he was pledged to bring neglected and far flung areas of country on the path of development by extending all facilities to them which are available to people in the developed parts of the country.
He said Jammu and Kashmir emerged the success story in cultivation of aromatic plants and Lavender and this revolution will boost the economy of the people living in far flung areas of the UT. The Lavender cultivation will boost the economy of the people and also overcome the unemployment problem, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that during last nine years of Modi Government one after another project was brought to J&K which included IIT, AIIMS, IIM, Bio Tech Parks, flyovers, Expressway corridors, mega power projects, High Altitude Medicinal Research Institute, bridges, medical colleges, tunnels etc.
