JAMMU, Feb 9: MLA from Udhampur Pawan Gupta today demanded debate on the financial condition of all the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) of the State in the Legislative Assembly and timely submission of reports by them.
Raising the issue in the Assembly, he said, “the Government has tabled reports about the functioning of only two-three Public Sector Undertakings that too of 1999 year. This clearly indicates that the Government is not serious in improving the financial condition of these PSUs”.
What purpose the reports of 1999 would serve at present? he asked, adding “accounts of almost all the PSUs have not been audited for the past several years despite the fact that Government is infusing huge money in these PSUs”.
Demanding debate on the functioning of all the PSUs in the Assembly, Pawan Gupta said, “this House has right to know how and where the resources are being utilized by these PSUs”, adding “by not getting the accounts of PSUs audited on time and tabling reports in the House the Government has sent a message that it doesn’t want to make accountable all those posted in these PSUs”.
However, neither Speaker nor the Government considered the request of Udhampur MLA, who remarked, “nobody is interested in any serious debate on the vital issues”.
