Jammu, Sept 13: As per the direction of SSP Udhampur Vinod Kumar , drug awareness campaign was held at Delhi Public School, Udhampur w ith a motive to generate awareness against drug abuse and to make society aware about ill effects of this social evil and also to make aware every student aware about drug abuse and its subsequent effects on generations. The programme was organized by Udhampur Police and was attended by DySP Hqrs. Udhampur Gurmeet Singh and PSI Pallvi Rajput, besides Chairman, Principal, lecturers, teacher of DPS Udhampur and other officers
While speaking on the occasion, DySP Hqrs. Udhampur Gurmeet Singh stressed on the need to sensitise people about the bad effects of drug addiction, adding that the students have to play a pivotal role to curb this menace which has gripped the whole country. He said that the main objective of organizing this awareness programme was to reach out to masses and spread awareness about the impact of drug abuse on the individuals as well as on the society. He spoke in detail on different aspects of narcotics & addiction and other important aspects related to drug abuse.
He also threw light on burning topics like cybercrime, types of cybercrimes such as hacking, credit card fraud, cyber terrorism, cyber stalking, cyber bullying, child pornography, financial crimes arising out and related cyber crimes such as crime against persons, crime against property and crime against Government and tips / preventive measures against cybercrime.
Moreover, youths were advised not to share their OTPs of various credit cards, ATMs etc. falling prey to to online fraudsters. He also spoke on the occasion and highlighted their experience in treating drug addicts. He gave a detailed speech on how to recognize that a person is addicted of drugs, treatment and testing process and also presented a detailed presentation about the menace of drugs, sources, causes, consequences, role of parents, civil society, teachers, Police, Health Department, Judiciary and other stakeholders.
Whereas PSI Pallvi Rajput sensitized the students about the ill effects of drug abuse and advised them to be part of social awakening process regarding drug abuse. She also highlighted the importance of drug free society and ill effects of this practice on Youths and society at large. She urged teachers and parents to keep a close watch on the activities and behaviour of students and be conscious towards them. She advised those affected to avail the facility of drug De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Centre DPL Udhampur.
The Chairman and Management Committee of the DPL School Udhampur facilitated the chief guest of the occasion DySP Hqrs. Udhampur Sh. Gurmeet Singh and appreciated the steps taken by Udhampur Police to curb the menace of drug abuse from the society and urged the Department to hold more such interactive sessions in the school.
