UGC General Orientation Course begins at JU

JAMMU, June 17: A four -week long UGC General Orientation Course being organized by Academic Staff College, University of Jammu, in collaboration with Department of History, commenced today.
Prof Satish Verma, Professor of the Reserve Bank of India Chair, Chandigarh and former Director, ASC, GNDU, formally inaugurated the course in the presence of teachers and staff of the university. He underlined the role of teacher in the contemporary Higher Education system and advised the participating teachers to undertake research exercises and avoid the trend of cut-paste based knowledge.
In his welcome address, Prof Rajendra Gupta, Director ASC discussed the need of such courses for the creation of vibrant knowledge society in 21st century. Prof Shalendra Singh, HoD History, highlighted the different areas of study that would be covered in the month long course.
Ranjit Kalra, Assistant Director, ASC presented formal vote of thanks at the inaugural function.
