UGC team visits GCW Parade for autonomous status

JAMMU, Dec 12: On formal request of the college for an autonomous status, a UGC team of experts visited Government College for Women, Parade, Jammu.
The team inspected the various departments of the college and interacted with the staff Teaching, Non-Teaching, alumni and parents.
The team also visited the various Centres in the College to see the facilities provided to the students as Canteen, Library, Sports, Women Study Centre, Community Radio Centre, Hostel, Health centre and Computer Centres.
They also inspected the college records and documentary evidences of the proposal which the college has submitted to the UGC.
The GCW Parade had applied to UGC for autonomous status in the month of May 2013. In response to this, the UGC constituted a team of experts headed by Ram Murti Naidu, Chancellor, Vignan University and former member of UGC, Ex-Chairman Prof R. R Malik, Principal, Gandhi Memorial National PG College, Ambala Cantt, as Member Secretary. Prof Seema Jain, Principal, Raghunath Girls Post Graduate College, Meerut, Dr R P Singh, Associate Prof Dayanand College, Hissar are members of the UGC team while Director Colleges Prof T A Kawoos and Prof Rajnikant are nominee of the State Government and Jammu University, respectively.
The committee will now submit its report to the UGC for further action.
Autonomy status to GCW Parade will provide academic and operative freedom to the college.
