London, Mar 9: British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss will on Wednesday hold talks with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, as well as members of Congress, a statement said.
The UK, US and our allies have shown remarkable strength and unity in supporting Ukraine and imposing severe sanctions on Russia. We need to maintain that unity and do more to ensure (Russian President Vladimir) Putin fails in Ukraine,” BBC quoted her as saying in a statement ahead of her trip to the US .
“The Ukraine crisis is a wake-up call for free democracies.” The topic of her discussions will “be what more the UK and US can do to support Ukraine on security, intelligence, and humanitarian issues,” her office said.
The crucial meet between the two allies comes in the backdrop of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine that began on February 24. So far close to thousand civilians have been killed in Ukraine.
Kyiv too claims to have brought down thousands of Russian forces within a fortnight in what is being touted as the biggest attack on a European state since World War II.
Russia has come under heavy sanctions by the West.
The UN said millions have been displaced due to the Ukraine crisis. (UNI)
