JAMMU, July 3: The pensioners from Municipal and Urban Local Bodies have expressed strong resentment over the hike in the salary and perks of the Legislators and Ministers and alleged that it would exert additional burden on the general public.
In a meeting of the Municipal & Urban Local Bodies Pensioners Association held here today under the chairmanship of Y S Jamwal, the members took strong exception to the recent double hike in the salary/ perks of the Legislators and Ministers. It is unfortunate that those at the helm of affairs instead of solving public issues and providing regular wages to the employees are watching their own interests. The public is suffering for want of ration, drinking water and power curtailments.
They assailed the statement of Chief Minister that employees and pensioners would have to wait for 7th Pay Commission implementation. They said if there was financial problem to the Government then what was the need of giving double hike to the perks of Minister and MLAs/MLCs. They urged upon the Governor N N Vohra and Prime Minister, to intervene into the matter. They said that instead of regularizing daily wagers/ temporary employees , the Government has proved self-centred.
