JAMMU, Nov 8: Urban Local Bodies (ULB) Safai Karamchari Union here today staged a protest demonstration demanding regularization of services of contractual and casual Safai Karamcharis.
The protesters raised slogans against the government and in favour of their demands like regularization of services of daily wager Safai Karamcharis, policy for their regularization, creating posts for them in municipalities where these are not so far and old pension scheme.
They asked the authorities to stop befooling them and gave a 10 day ultimatum for conceding their demands.
“If our demands were not met within 10 days then we will start Kaam Chhodo Hartal from Lakhanpur to Baramulla,” leader of the protesters said.
They also demanded implementation of UT Act in J&K for the welfare of Safai Karamcharis serving here.
They said that earlier they avoided the strike due to Navratras but may resume the same soon.
