JAMMU, Mar 20: A delegation of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Personal Law Board (Jadeed) led by its President Mufti Syed Basharat Hussain met Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah here today and presented him a memorandum of demands.
The issues discussed by the delegation also included those relating to the creation of Madrasa Board in the State on the pattern of Madrasa Boards functioning in other States of the country and representation of the Board in the Legislative Council.
The delegation highlighted the services rendered by Ulma in keeping the society free from evils and nurturing a disciplined, peace-loving, sincere and honest society. They also highlighted their role in helping poor and needy children to pursue educational goals.
Vice President of the Board Hafiz Mohammad Sayed gave resume of the activities of the Board aimed at educating children especially belonging to poorer sections of the society. He also gave details about other reformative and philanthropic functions of the Board and the Members associated with it.
Legislator Mushtaq Ahmad Bukhari, former Speaker, Mirza Abdul Rashid and former Minister Nisar Ahmad Khan were also part of the Ulma delegation.
The Chief Minister gave patient hearing and said that the genuine demands put forth by the delegation would be marked to the Minister for Haj and Auqaf for early necessary action, adding that the issues discussed in today’s meeting would be examined and considered under a set administrative procedure to focus attention.
