SAHARANPUR, Feb 23: Uttar Pradesh Anti-terrorist Squad (ATS) Inspector General (IG) Asim Arun here today claimed that arrested terrorists of Jaish-e-Mohammad had information about Pulwama terrorist attack.
Arun said arrested accused Shahnawaj Teli and Aqib Ahmad Malik were in contact with Pakistan-based handlers. He said if both were arrested earlier, Pulwama attack could have been averted.
ATS IG said arrested accused were responsible for new recruitment for terrorist organisation Jaish. Both were living in Deoband area in a rented house.
Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police, Saharanpur Dinesh Kumar P here said still some suspects could be hiding in Deoband area. He said over 8,000 students study in several Madarsas’ here. He said police has issued advisory to all hostel owners that no hostel room should be rented without police verification. (UNI)
