Unable to Crack CAT? Here are the Alternate Career Options for Students

CAT 2018 was held recently on November 25. Students all over the country participated in the exam. Among all the CAT aspirants, few score very well while many failed to prove themselves. Cracking CAT is a dream of every management aspirants but it’s a hard nut to crack.

Every year, more than 2, 30,000 candidates sit for the exam to compete for approximately 4,300 seats in 19 IIMs. The ratio of candidates appearing for the exam to seats available stands at 1:53. Due to all such reasons,CAT becomes one of the toughest exams of India to crack. Only one out of 50 students make it to the other end and it has nothing to do with your career options.

You can appear for various other exams like, CMAT, XAT, SNAP, GMAT, MAT, NMAT, IBSAT, IIFT, KMAT, MICAT, TISS NET, GRE, MH-CET, JAM and GATE, which can be your gateway to other reputed management institutes.  

 

EXECUTIVE MBA

Executive MBA is a one year program which is suitable for candidates having good UG qualifications and several years of work experience. Gradually, this course is becoming more and more popular in India, because of its online availability and part-time curriculum. Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indian School of Business (ISB), Xavier Institute of Management (XLRI), etc. are offering executive MBA courses.

BANK EXAMS

Bank exams are another great alternative for students interested in making a career in finance, commerce and management. A banking career is a stable and lucrative career for those good with numbers and enjoys managing finances. If you think your preparation for CAT was a waste of time, if you couldn’t crack CAT, then you are wrong. It is a specialized area of management associated with various big brands. Candidates interested in making a career in this field need to enroll in the PG Diploma/Masters/MBA courses in luxury brand management after completing graduation.

 

CHARTERED FINANCIAL ANALYSTS

Chartered Financial Analyst course is a four-year course. It is a good alternate option to enter the field of management. As a Chartered Financial Analyst, you will be trained in areas like financial management, management accounting you will have to deal with investment policies and financial decisions of big companies.

If you were unable to crack CAT even after few attempts, then maybe you should re-evaluate your decision of pursuing MBA in the first place.
