*Sets Jan 2020 deadline for completion of pending works

JAMMU, Nov 18: Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education, Atal Dulloo today said that the Government Unani Medical College Ganderbal and Government Ayurvedic College Akhnoor will start function from own campus from next year.
He was speaking at a review meeting convened to discuss the requirements for making the twin college campuses functional from next year.
Atal Dulloo said that new batch of students will be admitted in the colleges at their own campuses, which are presently being run with makeshift arrangement. He passed on strict instructions to the concerned officers to complete the pending works on both the college campuses by January 2020.
He said that health sector is a priority of the Government and no laxity will be tolerated in this regard.
The meeting also reviewed the working of Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board which is the executing agency for building the colleges and hospitals. The MD Housing Board was given strict instructions to complete all the pending works for early completion of the projects.
Various issues for commissioning of the two colleges came up for discussion during the meeting like furniture and machinery requirements. The requirement of library, herbal gardens, buses, sanitation and security was also discussed in the meeting.
The FC asked the officials to come up with a consolidated plan so that requirements are worked out in a better way. It was decided in the meeting that the furniture for the colleges will be provided by JK Housing Board and the machinery will be supplied by Jammu and Kashmir Medical Supplies Limited.
About the creation of posts and recruitment rules, it was said that the process has already begun and would be completed within the set time frame. The meeting was informed that the gazetted posts will be filled first, followed by staffing of non-gazetted cadre.
About the provision of the hostels for the twin colleges, it was said that the same will be included in the next year’s CAPEX budget, till then hostels will be hired at a proper place.
The officers present in the meeting were Director Indian System of Medicine, J&K, Dr Mohan Singh, MD Housing Board Tasaduq Jeelani, Nodal Officer Dr Narinder Sharma, Nodal Officer Dr Shabir Gaffari, Dr Suresh Sharma, Joint Director Planning Madan Lal, State HMIS Manager NAM Imran Khan, AD ISM, Dr Rakesh Raina and other senior officers.
