KATHUA, Feb 2: A man murdered his 4-year-old nephew after some quarrel with his own brother and Bhabi and thrown away boy’s body in the fields in Ramkote area of tehsil Billawar today.
A police spokesman giving details said that matter came to notice after a villager found the dead body of 4-year-old Nitin alias Bholu, son of Vijay Kumar, resident of Dhan, lying in the fields away from his home. The boy had multiple stab wounds on neck and stomach. He raised alarm and informed family members.
The mother of the boy told that boy had left to the fields with his uncle Joginder Lal (28), who was also found missing. A neighbourers told that they saw Bholu going with his uncle towards fields in the morning. The people informed Ramkote police about the murder.
A police party led by Incharge Police Post, Ramkote rushed to Dhan village. Later, SHO Billawar Bhushan Manhas and SDPO Basohli Mohd Rafiq Manhas also reached there. The body of the boy was shifted to Billawar hospital for postmortem. Father of the deceased Nitin had gone to Jammu this morning. The family members told police that for the last few weeks, there was tiff with Joginder and he used to abuse his ‘Bhabhis’ and brothers on different pretexts. Joginder used to allege that no family member was interested for his marriage and he was turning over aged moreover, his share of property after father’s death was also grabbed by brothers. Yesterday also he had quarrel with other family members on the same issue. They alleged that Joginder had murdered Nitin.
The police started manhunt and arrested Joginder Lal from a hideout in the same area this afternoon. He confessed his crime. On his disclosure the weapon of offence, a blood-soacked knife was also recovered from the nearby bushes. The police registered a case under Section 302 RPC against the accused and sent him to Billawar Police lock up.
