Undeclared emergency in country: Deve Gowda

HASSAN, KARNATAKA, Oct 25: Former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) Supremo H D Deve Gowda today lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking all institutions under his control and  effecting undeclared emergency in the country.
Speaking to newsmen here, he alleged that Mr Modi has brought an officer from Gujarat cadre to the Election Commission and almost all institutions including the CBI and Reserve Bank of India are headed by people from his State.”
“The Prime Minister visited Gujarat three times and announced package of thousands of crores rupees. An associate of Hardik Patel, leader of the Patidar movement, has said he was offered Rs 1 crore to join the BJP. The BJP is the founder of ‘Operation Lotus’ in Karnataka. Now it seems B S Yeddyurappa has taught the same to his Party President Amit Shah to execute it in Gujarat”, Mr Deve Gowda  alleged.
He said that “Mr Modi was Chief Minister of Gujarat for 12 years. Even after ruling the State for such a long time, he recently said the UPA rule did not allow him to develop Gujarat. It has been four years since he assumed the office of Prime Minister.
Gujarat has been ruled by the BJP only. Why could not he develop the State all these years even after having power both at the Centre and the State?” the former Prime Minister questioned.
Regarding a pre-poll survey predicting victory for the BJP in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, Mr Deve Gowda said according to the information he received there would be a tough fight between the BJP and the Congress.
The JD(S) leader said his party would stage a protest on November 8 against demonetisation. Regarding the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax, he said, “The government is engaged in bringing in many changes in the GST. I don’t know how many changes it will make before the elections in Gujarat.” (UNI)
