Srinagar, Apr 18: Under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), the Health & Medical Education (H&ME) Department has begun the implementation of the Scan & Share Queue Management System in J&K hospitals in order to reduce wait times and eliminate the problem of long queues of patients seeking OPD registrations.
While the system has already been installed in three hospitals in Kashmir and Jammu Division, a total of 11 institutions across the UT have been approved for the Scan & Share Queue Management System under ABDM.
As per details available with Excelsior, people have to create an ABHA ID through Aadhar and keep a mobile application, with a feature of ABHA, with them before visiting the hospital.
When they arrive at the hospital where they wish to have the consultation, they must scan the hospital bar code, which will register them in the hospital system and provide them with the token numbers.
“The scanning of the barcode will automatically catch the demographics of the person and get him/her registered in the system. The details of the person using the app will be already stored along with the ABHA ID, linked with the Aadhar,” the officials told Excelsior.
The details further state that the generated token number will be then sent to the mobile phone of the patients, who can wait at designated areas until their token number is displayed on the overhead screens.
Once a patient, whose Scan and Share number is displayed on the screen, arrives at the counter, the operator retrieves the demographic details from the system based on the token number and prints the OPD card.
“It would guarantee seamless entry to hospitals as part of the digital interventions for improving citizens’ ease of living. The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission’s solutions will revolutionise how the nation delivers healthcare,” Secretary, H&ME Department Bhupinder Kumar told Excelsior.
The approved hospitals for Scan & Share Queue Management System include GMC Jammu, Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh, Jammu, Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital, Srinagar, LD Hospital, Srinagar, Children Hospital, Srinagar, District Hospitals Pulwama, Samba, Ganderbal, Udhampur and SKIMS, Soura.
The facility has been rolled out as a pilot in Government Medical College Hospital Jammu, SMGS Hospital Jammu, Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu, Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital Srinagar LD Hospital Srinagar and JLNM Hospital Srinagar.
“We are committed to providing J&K residents with high-quality and hassle-free healthcare,” Ayushi Sudan MD, National Health Mission told Excelsior.
It is to be noted here that the Queue Management System which is witnessing its implementation almost every day, is one of the basic blocks of the ABDM. The officials said that after the specific 11 hospitals, the District Hospitals are going to be taken up followed by the entire peripheral health system.
They also noted that after the Scan & Share Queue Management System, the next step would be the patients being able to arrange the consultation of the doctors on their own.
