JAMMU, Sept 18: Demanding absorption in the Government jobs, unemployed Ayurvedic BAMS doctors held a protest demonstration, terming Government silence as a conspiracy to abrogate the Ayurveda Doctors from the State.
Carrying pla-cards and banners, the unemployed Ayurvedic BAMS doctors of Jammu region assembled outside Press Club under the banner of Unemployed Ayurvedic BAMS Doctors Association and raised slogans against the Government.
While speaking, Dr Shri Kant, Chairman of the association said that the Coalition Government has no employment policy for the Ayurvedic ISM doctors. The strength of the unemployed BAMS doctors is increasing day by day and the Government is not doing any thing for the absorption of the Ayurvedic Doctors.
Dr Shri Kant said that the Ayurvedic doctors of Jammu region are not being absorbed under the AYUSH scheme of the Union Health Ministry under the guide lines of the Union health Minister Gulam Navi Azad.
He said the AYUSH and NRHM schemes are proving fruitless and useless for the Ayurvedic doctors as they have not been absorbed under these schemes.
Dr Sahil Pandoh, president demanded separate directorate for the ISM Ayurveda and the ISM director should be an Ayurvedic Doctor and not UNANI doctor.
He said the stipend should be given to the BAMS doctors till they get the jobs and their services should be utilized in the Government hospitals and dispensaries.
Dr Pandoh urged Union Health Minister Gulam Nabi Azad and State Health Minister Shabir Khan to personally look into the matter and redress their demands at the earliest, otherwise they will intensify their protest and for any untoward incident, the Government will be responsible.
