Unemployed striking workers call off strike

RAMBAN, Nov 26: After getting the assurance from Assistant Labour Commissioner, the unemployed, highly skilled, un-skilled striking youths called off their strike, here today.
The strike was called off after the Assistant Labour Commissioner brought reconciliation between the construction company and the protesting workers today.

Pertinent to mention here that a large number of educated unemployed youth from Ramban, Maroog, Gam, Seri, Digdool, Ramsu and Kelamorh area are on protest, demanding jobs in Maroog-Digdool tunnel project.
The youth are demanding 70% recruitment in new Nirmanvridhi Construction India LLP-a sublet company of TATA Construction Limited engaged by NHAI for twin tube Maroog-Digdool tunnel construction work in Ramban district.
On the second day of protest, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Amit Kumar brought reconciliation between the construction company Nirmanvridhi Construction India LLP-a sublet company of TATA Construction Limited and the protesting workers and it was mutually agreed upon that the company will engage at least 70 % of the locals, retrenched workers after screening all suspended workers by the end of next week.
The work on the twin-tube Maroog-Digdool tunnels from the Maroog side was suspended for the past two months as all the workers were terminated without giving any prior notice by the Kubeera Project Limited terminated employees citing the reason of misbehavior with superior officers and poor performance on October 15, 2024.
Later, Kubeera Project Limited was also terminated by the main contractor company, TATA in November 2024.
