Unemployed youth facing worst ever job crisis: Sagar

SRINAGAR, Mar 5: The National Conference general secretary, Ali Mohd Sagar on Saturday said the democracy has been consigned to cold storage in Jammu and Kashmir saying the flurry of downgrading of democratic institutions have riled people and cast shadow on region’s development prospects.
This, he said, while interacting with scores of party workers who had called on him from North, South and Central Kashmir districts earlier today.
Interacting with the people, Sagar said there are no exceptions to democratic decline in Jammu and Kashmir and that every single sector of the region ranging from economy to public welfare has taken a direct hit.
The decision-making process reflects both centralisation of power and unilateralism, he said. “We keep hearing that J&K is the crown of the country but the treatment being meted out to this much touted crown is not up to par. The inordinate delay in the restoration of a popular government has sown the seeds of unaccountability in governance.
The regression of democracy has had cascading affect on local economy, business, trade, handicraft, horticulture, agriculture, employability, public utility services , education and health care sector. Any further delay in the restoration of the people’s rights will put the region on the path of no return,” he said.
“There is little strategic thinking on Jammu and Kashmir. No one is looking beyond the immediate events and short-term calculations of petty political gains,” he said.
Criticising the anti-poor and anti-youth policies of incumbent government, Sagar said problems of the people have multiplied over the years with major brunt being faced by the educated unemployed due to burgeoning unemployment problem. The educated jobless boys and girls are facing worst ever crisis in the Jammu and Kashmir under BJP regime, Sagar regretted.
