JAMMU, June 24: National Conference additional general secretary Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today expressed grave concern over increasing unemployment problem in Jammu and Kashmir, stating that it surged to unprecedented heights in the recent years with the BJP controlled administration demonstrating sadistic insensitivity in addressing the issues and pushing educated unemployed to wall and drugs addiction.
Addressing a meeting at Shiv Nagar in Jammu, organized by Gourav Bhagat, Sadhotra questioned the seriousness of the `double engine’ Sarkar in addressing the unemployment crisis, saying no effort is being made to fill the huge vacancies in various departments. Whatever little posts advertised fell prey to scandals and scams perpetrated by those manning the affairs of the governance, he lamented.
Sadhotra referred to the scams involving recruitment to the posts of Police Sub Inspectors, Junior Engineers and Accounts Assistants in the recent past and said this speaks volumes about the gravity of malpractices being patronised by the administration. He held the BJP responsible for playing with the future of young people, who are losing patience and suffering from depression. Some of them have taken to drugs in sheer frustration, he added.
“It seems to be just tip of an iceberg. Nobody knows the sanctity of interviews or tests held for filling up various categories of posts during this period, as the surfacing of scams have cast doubt over the selection process. He said the BJP cannot absolve itself from trampling the trust of the meritorious and deserving youth,” he said.
NC leader described unemployment as a major issue plaguing Jammu and Kashmir and sought a clear roadmap for tackling the concerns of youth, who are finding themselves in a situation of despair and hopelessness. Not only educated but skilled and unskilled youth are grappling with unemployment due to multiple reasons like economic slowdown and lack of industrial and corporate sector here.
Taking the BJP head on for its anti- youth policies, Sadhotra referred to Agniveer Scheme and said this is not only detrimental to the nation’s defence forces but also a huge disincentive for the youth aspiring to serve the country.
Senior leaders Chander Mohan, Raghubir Singh, Tilak Raj Bhagat, Rakesh Sharma, Tajinder Singh, Sahil Singh Chib and OP Bhagat also spoke on the occasion.
