KATHUA, July 24: Dr Bharat Bhushan, Director Social Welfare (DSW) Jammu, has called for collective efforts to combat the menace of drug abuse.
Speaking at a function organized by the Social Welfare Department at Nagri-Parole under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, in collaboration with Higher Secondary School Nagri Parole, Dr Bhushan emphasized the importance of a unified approach to combat the menace.
The event began with Dr Bhushan flagging off a student rally from Batti Morh. The rally, which passed through the town and concluded at Town Hall, Nagri, saw enthusiastic participation from citizens, students, and NGO representatives. The goal was to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.
Dr Vijay Raina, Chief Medical Officer Kathua, addressed the gathering, highlighting the detrimental effects of drug abuse on youth.
Varun Choudhary, District Social Welfare Officer Kathua, presented a video illustrating the severe impact of the drug menace. The event also featured a skit by Tiny Tots, led by noted artist Bunty Mangotra, which was well-received by the audience.
Director Social Welfare Jammu, Dr Bharat Bhushan stressed the need for Government departments, NGOs, and citizens to work together to address the alarming rise in drug abuse.
He urged the public to report anti-social elements to the police and seek assistance from the Social Welfare and Health Departments for affected youth.
Meanwhile, in recognition of their achievements, around 40 meritorious students from classes 9th to 12th were honored by Dr Bhushan, in the presence of staff members from HSS Nagri Parole.
The program concluded with the recital of the National Anthem.
