Union Minister flags off ‘Humsafar’ Express between Jammu-West Bengal

*Passengers convenience railways highest priority: GM

JAMMU, July 3: In view of making journey more comfortable, Indian Railways today introduced ‘Humsafar’ Express between Jammu Tawi and Sealdah in West Bengal.
Union Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain flagged off the ‘Humsafar Superfast Express’, which will run on a weekly basis. Vishwesh Chaube, GM Northern Railway, MLA Gandhi Nagar Kavinder Gupta, MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma and officers and officials from Indian Railways were present on the occasion.
The train will depart from Sealdah on Monday and will arrive at Jammu Tawi on Tuesday in every week. In return direction, the super fast express train will run every Wednesday to arrive at Sealdah the next day.

On its inaugural run today, train number 02318 Jammu Tawi-Sealdah weekly Humsafar Superfast Special train departed from Jammu Tawi at 12.30 pm in order to reach Sealdah at 11.45 pm tomorrow. The regular service of the train 22318/22317 from Sealdah will commence from July 9, 2018, and from Jammu Tawi, the regular service will commence from July 11, 2018.
From July 9, 2018, onwards, train number 22317 Sealdah-Jammu Tawi weekly Humsafar Superfast Express train will run on every Monday. The superfast train will depart from Sealdah at 01:10 pm in order to reach Jammu Tawi at 11:30 pm the next day. In the return direction, from July 11, 2018, onwards, train number 22318 Jammu Tawi-Sealdah weekly Humsafar Superfast Express train will run on every Wednesday. The superfast train will depart from Jammu Tawi at 07:25 am in order to reach Sealdah at 05:45 pm the next day.
The Sealdah-Jammu Tawi weekly Humsafar Superfast Express train will have sixteen AC three-tier coaches. En route, in both the directions, the train service will stop at Ludhiana, Ambala Cantt., Saharanpur, Moradabad, Bareilly, Lucknow, Varanasi, Mughalsarai, Gaya, Dhanbad, Asansol railway stations. The train will also have modern and safe LHB coaches, GPS enables train positioning and LED display, bio-toilets, smoke alarm, CCTv cameras, extinguishers in coaches, Braille signages for visually handicapped and mobile and laptop charging points.
While introducing the Humsafar Express, the Union Minister said that the trains are lifeline of the country and the Government has been giving special attention to the railways.
Later, people were also seen talking selfie near the train.
Meanwhile, Vishwesh Chaube undertook an inspection of the Jammu Station and inspected passenger amenities, cleanliness situation, circulating area, catering, PFs and ongoing projects. He said that passenger convenience is railways highest priority.
