Union Ministry forms team to study Sea Buck Thorn in Ladakh

JAMMU, Oct 7: Union Ministry of MSME has formed a team of two Assistant Secretaries in the Ministry namely Devayani Yadav and Krati Raj with the mandate to study the entire product cycle of Sea Buck Thorn including cultivation, reaping, processing, manufacturing and marketing products, besides studying the byproducts generated during the processing.
The team is visiting Leh on 08-10-2023 and the study is being started from 09-10-2023 onwards. Medicinal value of the Sea Buck Thorn will be studied and analyzed by the team. MSME DFO for Ladakh has deputed Rajesh Kumar, Assistant Director as Nodal officer for the team to co-ordinate with various stake holders including Government departments of Ladakh who has already reached Leh and had initial briefing with Directorate of Industries and Commerce which has been nominated as the nodal department from Government of Ladakh to co-ordinate the visit of the team by Sanjeev Kirwar, Principal Secretary (Industries), Ladakh.
Government of Ladakh noting the importance of the study has also nominated Tudu, Marketing Manager from Industries and Commerce Department for local coordination and planned interaction with local farmers and other stake holders.
